Your Own Private Pool

Swimming your own private backyard pool can be a really fun and relaxing thing to do. But, as well as being a place of enjoyment, a swimming pool can become a hazard if safety standards are not properly met. Let’s discuss one important way to keep a private swimming pool safe, safety barriers.

Sad to say, many children, especially those under the age of 5, lose their lives each year because of accidental drowning. Before it is even realized that a child is missing, they may have wondered somewhere they shouldn’t. A pool barrier is vital for preventing a small child from gaining unsupervised access to the backyard pool.

A swimming pool barrier can take the form of a wall or fence surrounding the pool area. It must be high enough and sturdy enough to stop a child from climbing over it, or even from crawling under it. While pool barriers are essential for inground pools, they are also necessary for above-ground pools and hot tubs, as even a small body of water can be hazardous to a child.

Could you use your home’s exterior walls as a pool barrier? The home’s exterior walls can act as a pool barrier, but you must make sure that any windows or doors leading to the pool area are locked and secured at all times, particularly if you have young children in the house. Installing alarms that will sound when someone exits these doors or windows is also an important safety measure to take. You will want the alarm sound to be loud and distinct so that it is very noticeable when the alarm is triggered.
