A Water Heaters Lifespan

A water heater plays a fundamental role in the comfortable running of the home. Naturally, then, you will want to make sure it is well maintained and in good working order. However, sooner or later, the water heater will come to the end of its lifespan, and you will need to replace it. But what is the average lifespan of a water heater?
Generally speaking, water heaters have a lifespan of about 10 years, but many factors will change this number. One of those factors is usage. The more water that needs to be heated, the harder the water heater will have to work which will reduce its life expectancy. Plus, a greater volume of water will have a more corrosive effect on the water heater. Hard water is another factor as mineral buildup in the unit will eventually prevent it from working efficiently.
Installation and location will also determine a water heater’s lifespan. The water heater must be installed in an upright position, and in an area with good ventilation. Do not install a water heater in a location that is susceptible to flooding, as this will cause damage and rust. You should also choose a location that will be easily accessible for future maintenance and repairs.
Quality. As we see with most appliances, the better the quality, the longer it lasts. Water heaters are no exception, so if you want the water heater to last the maximum amount of time, you will want to choose one of high quality.
