Would Your Home Appeal to Buyers?

If you are about to put your home up for sale, a good question to ask yourself is: would my home appeal to a potential buyer as it is? While you may not want to spend a ton of money and time getting your home ready to put on the market, it is a good idea to know what appeals to buyers these days and focus your efforts there. Here are a few suggestions:

Something that can really make a home look dated is the kitchen and bathrooms. Although you may not want to spend the money replacing them, you could give them a refresh by refinishing the cabinetry, replacing old hardware, and reglazing sinks and tubs. If you decide to replace kitchen appliances, try to choose ones that blend in with a neutral palette, as this will appeal to a broader range of prospective buyers.

Do you have any extra bedrooms that you do not use? If so, why not repurpose one into a home office? With so many people working from home these days, a home office is a real selling point.

Keep your property well maintained. A tidy yard will really add to your property’s curb appeal. You should also fix any repairs that have needed doing like painting or sealing the deck, etc.

Perhaps you are thinking about doing some major work to your home to get it ready to sell. Whatever work you decide on, make sure it will add value to the property, otherwise, you may want to reconsider spending the money on it.
